What endoscopic forehead lift is
Endoscopic plastic surgery is a less traumatic type of plastic surgery. With the help of small incisions in the scalp above the forehead, it removes the gravitational drooping of tissues and smooths wrinkles. The advantage of the procedure: quick recovery, atraumatic. Due to the rapid recovery, patients notice the first result after surgery 10 days after the intervention. Unlike circular facelift, endoscopy does not cause massive oedema, haematomae, and has a minimal risk of complications.
Also, a significant advantage of forehead endoscopy is that the procedure can be repeated periodically throughout life.
Indications
Forehead endoscopy is advisable for:
● pronounced transverse wrinkles on the forehead;
● sagging forehead skin;
● drooping eyebrows;
● drooping eyelids due to drooping eyebrows.
Contraindications
It is better to replace the eyebrow and forehead lifting with alternative procedures for:
• deep-set eyes and low-set eyebrows from birth;
• patients with a high forehead (otherwise the forehead will become even larger);
• exacerbation of chronic diseases;
• blood coagulation disorders;
• pregnancy and lactation;
• epilepsy;
• rashes, burns or cuts in the area of the procedure.
What results can be achieved with the procedure
Thanks to endoscopy of the forehead, the client receives an open look, raised eyebrows, horizontal, deep transverse grooves on the forehead are removed.
Possible complications
Any surgical intervention is associated with risks. Typical complications of lifting in this area include:
● Asymmetry of eyebrows. The surgeon corrects the difference between the eyebrows with botulinum toxin injections.
● Temporary non-closure of the eyelids. It occurs when the surgeon pulls on the face tissues as much as possible. The problem goes away unassisted and does not require repeated procedures.
● Nerve damage. The temporal branch of the facial nerve is affected in most cases. But the condition is reversable. With the help of myostimulation, the sensitivity and conductivity of the fibres can be restored.
● Haematomae. Bruising is expressed in the upper and lower eyelids, in the neck. This is a normal phenomenon, which independently passes after 2 weeks.
When is forehead lift indicated and when is blepharoplasty performed?
Upper blepharoplasty is prescribed to patients with the droopy outer corner of the eye, when excess tissue literally lies on the upper cilia. If the cause of eyelid drooping is drooping eyebrows, then the doctor will recommend an endoscopic forehead lift.
Preparation for surgery
Fourteen days before plastic surgery, smokers give up their bad habit so that tissue repair and healing are faster. Patients take a blood and urine test, undergo an ECG, are consulted by a surgeon, therapist.
How is the procedure done
With an endoscopic forehead lift, the surgeon makes 2 small incisions in the scalp above the forehead. The instrument separates part of the tissues and stretches them. The new position of the tissues is fixed with small seams. This is the end of the plastic endoscopic method. The operation is performed under local anaesthesia.
What is the rehabilitation process like
As for the forehead lifting, the main recommendation is to avoid bending and exercise for 14 days. The first day after the procedure, swelling is possible, and within a few weeks — numbness of the forehead, but this is normal. Seven days after lifting of the forehead and eyebrows, the stitches are removed. The final effect of endoscopy becomes visible in 6 months since the day of surgery.
